Basso & Brooke - Wealth at Berlin Fashion Week

One if not the memorable highlight of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin was the Basso & Brooke catwalk on July 18th.

The question why some make it as a fashion designer and some don’t - on early friday morning, the two british fashion creatives gave the answer.

The participation of Basso & Brooke during this Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin was a masterpiece for which you can’t thank the organizers enough. A retrospective of the last four seasons was announced and we encountered a happening of the art of fashion, what the lucky visitors to the main location at Bebelplatz were allowed to attend.

The catwalk of the englishmen - Christopher Brooke, graduate of Central Saint Martins and his partner Bruno Basso who is a graphic designer and actually comes from Brazil - was the big show you’re waiting for at every fashion week. You rarely get the chance to encounter such an overwhelming optical presentation.

Using cloth and colour in an unsparing way, the designers, whose autumn/winter 2004 collection has entered the collection of Metropolitan Museum of Art, design creations which point in John Galliano’s direction and keeping in mind that they are only 25 respectively 29 years of age, there is loads more to expect in the future.

From the unique hats to the jackets, coats and skirts and as well the accessories - you had trouble looking fast enough to see every detail that every single piece of clothing regarding cut and colour had to offer.

With Basso & Brooke it were again members of London fashion scene who showed where the international fashion trail is leading. Interesting if nothing else for the majority of young Berlin fashion designers who are still in search for their own identity and watching London now have a great focal point for orientation regarding their own position on the fashion map and what to do to be able to compete with designers from the british capital. One thing is for sure - it’s gonna be a long and stony way.
