BELL 02 RELEASE & VERNISSAGE at Create Berlin - Impressions
On the occasion of the release of the second edition of Bell magazine, Create Berlin gave a reception on the 16th of May 2008.
Bell Vol. 2 is a three dimensional magzine which has the shape of a box that contains contributions by selected Berlin artists and designers which come from the spheres of architecture, graphics, music, photography, art and theory and who grapple with the topic “blue seven”. Surprisingly enough - even though it has been recently confirmed by scientists - the prevailing part of mankind says, when being asked about their favorite number and color, 7 and blue.
B_UTOP, FRANK SCHÜLTGE BLUMM, URSULA BONDERER, CLAUDIA FRANKE, CHARLY FRECH, MATTHEW HINDLEY, MONA JAS, FRANK LEDER, NOMAD, ANDREA PÖßNICKER, CLAUDIA RORARIUS, JÖRG SCHÄFER und INGA WELLMANN dealt with this phenomenon.
Differently from usual magazines you can’t find the results of the artistic anylysis not on printed pages but in some 11x8x4 inches black box made out of cardboard. The reader or better put the observer is forced to interact with the object by taking them out of the box, reading, looking. In this connection it shouldn’t be forgotten that this publication has an immense value severving as design object because the box itself and it’s contents look far better lying on a table than an ordinary magazine.
The vernissage at Create Berlin Showroom located at Wallstraße 16 in Berlin-Mitte which was accompanied by some very nice live performance by BOBBY & BLUMM as well as dj TIM TETZNER’s choice of music, had the charcter of some get together of Berlin’s creative scene, where you could meet the most multifaceted people or meet them again after you may have met them before during London Fashionweek for example. Design meets art meets music meets fashion - a special night for a special cause.
As Create Berlin’s showroom several art object by the artists involved in BELL Vol. 2 were exhibited and made this night some three dimensional encounter for the visitors.
Bell Vol. 2 is released in a strictly limited edition of 500 pieces and is a very desirable object in every respect. More information about this “Interdisciplinary object of art” can be found on BELL’s website as well as at CREATE-BERLIN.
