March 15 Protest against Scientology

Thumb

Today marks the worldwide anti Scientology protest day, and demonstrators where on their way as well in Berlin.

Just recently, on the 10th of february, there had been worldwide protests against Scientology. With a march, starting today on 11am at Berlin Bahnhof Zoo (former Berlin’s main train station), ending in front of Berlin’s Church of Scientology head office, the opponents of the organization wanted to point out the dangers of the sect. March 15 marks the birth date of it’s founder L. Ron Hubbard.

As usual the demonstration passed by very peaceful. Only one incident happened, when Berlin police forbid one fellow journalist to take pictures, which is after all and because of the german constitution very questionable in terms of “freedom of the press”.

Scientology frequently is in the media, mainly because of it’s most prominent member - US american actor Tom Cruise - who recently took the chance, while staying in Berlin for the making of the Stauffenberg movie, to visit the Berlin Church of Scientology head office at Otto-Suhr-Allee, where today’s demonstration took place.
