Berliner Liste 07 - The Berlin art fair for upcoming artists and galleries

With 59 galleries from eleven coutries which includes 14 Berlin galleries, the Berliner Liste is the place for current art in these days till october 3rd.

Yesterday we went to the opening reception and took a look around. Our first stop was the booth of janinebeangallery, which is located right at the entrance of the exhibition halls. The art on display which is unique, fresh and of high quality and features artists from the european and the american continent is some good starting point cause it gives you some good impression about what to expect at Berlinista’s favorite Berlin art fair.

If you prefer to live on the safe side of life - go to the Art Forum Berlin, where all the too well known names gather which you can find any place around. If you are looking for art which is quite the opposite of boring and substantiates your status as a trendsetter who knows what’s hot - Berliner Liste 07 at “Ehemaliger Postgüterbahnhof, Luckenwalder Straße 4/6” also known as “The Station” which hosts the biggest tradeshow during the Berlin fashion weeks, the Premium, is the place to be till 3rd of october.

The fair takes place on two levels which make up for about 3.000 square meters of space. The booths, even the smaller ones, all have some comfortable size which allows you to step back and get the big picture. During my walk around the building i talked to some of the exhibitors who seemed to be very happy about the location and the choice of galleries who present a selection of 200 artists.

Though the fair is located in Berlin, only 30% of the galleries are located back here which shows the international attractiveness and the wise selection the organizers did. Looking at all the exhibits from all over the world you see that art is comparable to fashion cause there are certain trends, some unspoken rules that artists - regardless of their origin - follow. Naturally their art is influenced by the situation they live in and the social, politial and cultural situation of their countries.

Being more some kind of fan than some art historian i was satisfied to see this huge concentration of talent which was an eyesight to me and caught my attention because of unwontness, surprising mixes of material and colors, and the interesting way the artists mostly used to transmit their message. As we are living in the age of nakedness, it was very pleasing to see, that young artists in these days obviously look for other ways to get the audience’s attention than having one naked body in every picture.

In the beginning of my report i mentioned one of the great galleries who offer their artist’s art. I could’ve mentioned all those art dealers from all over the globe but due to the fact that we are more some kind of lifestyle magazine i advise you to check our preview article which included the list of galleries, and the relevant sources like the Berliner Liste website.

As pictures are always some important factor of our reports - browse to our Gallery.
