DMY – Goes International - International Design Festival in May, from May 21 – 25, 2008

DMY is a Festival devoted to internationally active designers from the field of product design, as well as a platform for creative young designers. This year, the Festival takes place for the sixth consecutive time in Berlin. The DMY focuses on the presentation of internationally active designers and institutions, as well as on the core of the design festival, the participation and discovery of young talents.

DMY is a platform for product design and adjacent disciplines, at the crossroads between art and design. The DMY Festival 2008 and its key event, the DMY YOUNGSTERS, once again take place in the Arena, located in the Treptow district, where international designers present their work on a 7.000 m2 exhibition space. The location also comprises the “Designlabor” and the “Schauraum”, which complement the Festival with a rich and varied framework programme featuring workshops and seminars.

This year, the DMY will expand its action scope for the first time, including decentralised exhibition locations in its event. The DMY ALLSTARS present their work in showrooms and open studios throughout the city. With the DMY KLUBLABOR, the design festival adds a further module to its event programme. Berlin clubs and DJs will enhance the 96-hour non-stop marathon by merging all of the festival activities in a pulsating interplay. For the first time, this year’s participants of the DMY YOUNGSTERS, DMY ALLSTARS and DMY KLUBLABOR will be selected by an international jury. The jury will announce the selected participants in early March. From May 21 – 25, 2008, designers from all over the world will present their latest work to both professionals and design lovers. As an international design festival, the DMY sets new standards in development, exchanges and networking in the field of design.
