ESMOD Graduate Fashion Show 2008 opens Fashion Week Berlin

Last friday the international school for fashion ESMOD held it’s 2008 graduate show as opening event of Berlin Fashion Week.

Because of the generous support of many sponsors ESMOD was able to welcome a big number of guests to the huge space of Arena Berlin and presented the perfect environment for the presentation of the collections of their 2008 graduates.

At the beginning ESMOD’s manager Silvia Kadolsky adressed the audience and gave an introduction about what to expect during the catwalk - 25 collections in total - with the “Collection Of Hope”, represented by the ever charming Waridi Schrobsdorff, as the first collection to be shown.

Especially for this occasion ESMOD had hired professional models who presented the designs.

Model by model paraded along the catwalk and one could imagine about the speed that everyone was working backstage to present such a big number of dresses during the 45 minute show.

Starting with the Collection Of Hope which was followed by the designs of Selma Berisalic which resembled some “deactivated” Garreth Pugh collection, one could see a childrens collection, underwear fashion as well as streetstyle, fashion for the night out and the day as well as creations which clearly showed that the ESMOD graduates are able to handle the design of robes for the theater as well.

Some entertaining show which was crowned with the announcement of the winner of that night’s competition. Some international jury lead by A.F. and An Vandenvorst had to choose a single one out of those 24 collections, which wasn’t an easy task as A.F. Vandenvorst told the audience, cause during those days in Berlin the jury had encountered solid craftmanship and especially passion, which is the basic assumption for becoming a successful fashion designer.

In the end Tarane Hoock was announced as the winner and she was very happy to be chosen by those prominent colleagues as any one could see.

“Me, Myself & We”, which was the event’s motto, was an overall success and the collections were feasted by the prominent audience which included JOOP’s Dirk Schöneberg besides of many other fashion professionals and journalists. Some perfect “opener” which makes one look forward to the upcoming Berlin Fashion Week.
