FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS BERLIN 2007
From October 16th until 28th the Festival Of Lights will turn Berlin into a sparkling metropolis with a firework of illuminations and events.
World-famous historical landmarks and spots of Berlin, e.g. the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Cathedral or the TV tower, will be staged impressively by means of light, events, projections and fireworks (more than 40 illumination objects). Complementary to the festival there will be numerous cultural events dealing with the subject “light”. The City Foundation Berlin, the Union Investment Real Estate AG, the light artist Andreas Boehlke and the festival director Birgit Zander with her agency Zander & Partner Event-Marketing are the initiators and organisers of the festival.
In the evenings, the visitors of Berlin may experience the illuminations during special Lightseeing-Tours. Especially the event highlights on the weekends are very attractive. During the “Night of open doors” on the first Saturday of the festival, 20th of October, many of the illuminated buildings will present themselves at special events until midnight. Last year, 20 buildings and locations took part, e.g. the Bode Museum with a “Byzantine Night”, the TV- and Radio Tower with “Towers at Night”, the China Gate Berlin and the DomAquarée with special events. In 2007, a lot of new buildings and events will join this “Night of open doors”.
For the 15th time, Germany’s biggest shopping festival - the “Long night of shopping” – will take place on Kurfürstendamm on the second Saturday of the festival, 27th of October. Shopping until midnight underneath the fantastic illuminations of the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS™.
Kick-off for this year’s FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS™ will be on 16th of October with a public opening show with laser, music and fireworks starting at 10 pm at the Alexanderplatz.
The spectacular illuminations will be enhanced by a countless number of artistic and cultural activities, ranging from special events to sponsor parties and of course the Grand Opening Ceremony at the Alexanderplatz with its laser-show, Kick-Off-Light Marathon and public fireworks.
