Germany’s Next Topmodel Season 3

Thumb

Day: thursday, feb. 28 + Time 8.15pm + Country: Germany + channel: Pro7 = time for Germany’s Next Topmodel by Heidi Klum!

18.217 girls from 25 different countries had applied for the chance to be invited to Cologne, where the last 120 of them entered the first stage of the final rounds to find Germany’s Next Topmodel. At the beginning of the show the main characters were introduced. This season’s jury consists of Heidi Klum of course, Rolf Scheider - casting director from Paris who is in the business for almost three decades by now and IMG’s Peyman Amin - a well known face of the previous season.

While the jury was waiting at the end of the catwalk all remaining girls had to present themselves, one after the other, in front of Heidi and the guys. Of course you could see many different presentations, ranging from completely inexperienced with some of the ladies even having difficulties to move in some appealing way to some of the girls looking as if they were already born with the ability to bring some glam to the catwalk.

In between the various presentations the girls introduced themselves which made you - because of the chosen ones - get some impression of which girls to expect in the following sequels of Germany’s Next Topmodel. For example there was Gina-Lisa, some 21 year old blonde who’se hair was too blonde and who had spent too many times in the tanning salon. After some advise by Heidi and after some remake by Boris Entrup, some well known make up artist we as well saw during the last season of the show, her natural beauty had returned and she looked simply stunning, why she in the end made it into the next round.

There was happiness, tears, excitement - everything you would expect and secretly were waiting for. The excitement was quite understandable, cause after those first day, and the next days to come, only 50 of the ladies, ranging from 16 years of age to the age of 24 and a height between 5 foot 6 and 18 year old Katharina’s impressive nearly 6 foot, would be left. One of the girls, the smallest one didn’t make it into the next round even though her looks were stunning. She was very slender with long legs, which overall made her look taller, but due to the rules of the market she had to be sent home in tears and not even Heidi with all her experience and kindness managed to comfort her completely.

After the girl’s experience in front of the jury who made some of them act in different roles, to see if they were able to show different emotions, the next stage of the thrilling experience on the was to the catwalks of the world was some photo shooting where they all had to behave aggressive. Actiing out emotions on command was something quite new to all of them but the photographer and the jury seemed to be quite satisfied.

At the end of the day, there were only 50 contestants left, which were flown to Barcelona/Spain, to do their first catwalk in front of a big audience with international press and one if not the most famous male models on the catwalk - Marcus Schenkenberg. The Bread & Butter trade show which has it’s roots in Berlin always attracts some huge professional crowd every year in january, and the catwalk of Philipp Plein was the task all of them had to solve. As one might guess this wasn’t that easy, as many of them had real problems to walk in high heels - especially Katharina, who usually has a shoe size of 11 (in america) and who had to do the catwalk in a size 10, but in the end presented the fashion in some very professional way.

At the end of that day Heidi had the task to present the jury’s choice to the girls. In the end there were only 30 left and we are now looking forward to next week where we’ll encounter new stages on the girl’s way to become Germany’s Next Topmodel and have the chance of a contract with IMG Models, of appearing in a campaign for german fashion brand C&A and to be on the cover of Cosmopolitan - besides of all the other chances you get as winner of this great event for all up-and coming models.
