Hansa Studios Tour in Berlin

A special Hansa Studios Tour will be held on the 26th of February in Berlin.

The tour to the legendary Hansa studios on Potsdamer Platz, where Depeche Mode recorded “Some Great Reward” and “Black Celebration” recorded includes also the viewing of “The big hall by the wall” (Studio 2 or Meistersaal).

Other artists who’ve worked here at the German version of Abbey Road include Iggy Pop, David Bowie, U2, Nina Hagen, Nena and Zarah Leander.

The Masters Hall was built by the Architects Giesede & Menzle in the traditional Music Quarter of Berlin during 1910 to 1913 and was used by the Society of Builders for Greater Berlin. During the Second World War the building was badly damaged and was gradually restored. When the War ended, Berlin was divided up and the building located in West Berlin was only a few metres away from the Wall itself.

In 1976 Thomas Meisel from the Meisel Music Publishers bought the building and in the same year The Masters Hall or “Studio 2” was born.
