HUGO - Stylistically confident at Berlin Fashion Week

The first catwalk of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2009 was the one by HUGO on July 17th.

It was Bruno Pieters task to present his designs for HUGO spring/summer 2009 during an impressive catwalk and to to prove beyond doubt who is the fashion BOSS in this country.

Noon was the time when the show was about to begin which caused some problems for the numerous film, radion and tv celebrities. You had to be prepared very well stylewise for this important society event and therefore the ladies had to get up quite early in order to show up in the best possible shape at 12pm Berlin time.

Besides of loads of german vips there were of course international celebrities who attended like Kim Cattrall of Sex & The City, fellow actress Mischa Barton and her “work mate” Rupert Everett, who were accompanied by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin ambassador Eva Padberg and Dr. Kristina Hammer, Director Global Marketing Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars.

The amount of celebrities had, as you could read before, been taken’ care of what leads us to the catwalk itself, where the guests were about to see avantgarde fashion, a progressive fashion with individuality and who puts the creativity as well as the progressivity of the wearer as well of the fashion in the center of attention.

More than 30 models including supermodel Irina Lazareanu who we remember quite well from her appearance at the very first edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, did a great job.

Bruno Pieters who is head of design of HUGO since last year took his inspiration for this collection from Bauhaus and from the architecture of the 1920’s, what got perfectly reflected in the designs on the catwalk. Mundane, marked by clear forms and colours always focussed on style. Verbs which try to visualize the way the HUGO spring/summer 2009 collection took effect.

Black and white, beige and blue were the four dominant colours of the collection. No mixture of materials, no stripes - just one colour for every piece of fashion. No matter in what combination the suits, blouses, coats, skirts or shorts got presented - Bruno Pieters “factual” style was visible in every creation. The HUGO spring/summer 2009 collection is classy but nevertheless casual in just the amount that is necessary to feel comfortable during the warmer season of the year. Fashion for relaxed people in search for style with an avant-garde touch.

After the show the general audience and likewise the fashion pros were happy and satisfied about what they had seen, and left freshly inspired in search for more encounters at the following events of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.
