James Gallagher at Pool Gallery

Till 19th of April you can discover James Gallagher’s works during the “What’s Your Pleasure?” exhibition at Pool Gallery Berlin.

The Brooklyn, New York, artist uses collage technique to explore the human form and its identity.

He uses old books, magazines like National Geographics, sometimes porn magazines and other findings from everyday life. The juxtaposition of scissor cuts are small to medium formats used by clear forms and restrained colors bribe. Gallagher creatas a fascinating tale of very personal and intimate scenes and moving moments. His figures are in the interpersonal interaction, or in lonely isolation, in a dynamic movement or completely motionless. The artist however leaves it up to the viewer, to divine the moods of his characters, to anticipate them to give them a face.

James Gallagher’s work has been in numerous exhibitions around the globe. His pictures were in various magazines, newspapers and books, he has implemented projects for Arkitip, Stussy, Undefeated, J & L Books, Nerve.com and Virgin Mobile.

The exhibition at pool Gallery is the first time that James Gallagher’s works get shown in a solo exhibition in Germany. The selected works range from the years 2005 to 2008.

Exhibition still runs till April the 19th 2008.
