Kristin Hensel at Berlin Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2009

The spring/summer collection 2009 of the Young Fashion Designer Kristin Hensel is about the square respectively the cube as a second basic form.

Geometrical forms according to the Bauhaus teaching are characteristic for the design of Kristin Hensel. The SS06 and SS07 collection were inspired by the circle which is linked to the square. The designer‘s intention to create shapes and forms is characterized by the metaphor for raw matter that is sculpted like stone to the nucleus.

Kristin Hensel born 1979 in Leipzig studied fashion at the University of Art & Design Burg Giebichenstein Halle/Saale Germany. During her studies she took on an internship at Vienna based designer Eva Blut and Wendy&Jim.

The fashion label Kristin Hensel was founded in 2004. Her first collection ‚Things Around Me‘ was shown at the Avantgarde at ZKM Karlsruhe. Kristin Hensel was selected for the third Beck‘s Fashion Experience during the Premium Exhibition Week in Berlin 2005. During the Paris Fashion Week she presented the SS06 collection ‚The Inner Circle‘ at the New Designer Salon Rendez - Vous Femme. The participation at the Ideal Showroom Berlin at Café Moskau followed.

Kristin Hensel received the Go-Asia Artist in Residence Award of the ‚Kunststiftung des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt‘ in 2006. The SS08 Collection ‚One Night in Bangkok - God is a She‘ - inspired by this stay in Southeast Asia - was presented at Beck‘s Fashion Défilé at KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin and during the New York Fashion Week at Temporary Showroom New York.
