Maria Callas + Swarovski - Juwelen
The exhibition “Maria Callas & Swarovski - Jewels on Stage” will be presented at the Konzerthaus in Berlin from March 18 to April 13.
The exhibition of stage jewellery made for Maria Callas by the Atelier Marangoni in Milan debuted in Verona 2003, from where it moved to Monte Carlo, New York, Tokio, London, Prague, Buenos Aires and Barcelona. The Atelier Marangoni was founded by Ennio Marino Marangoni in 1940 and is now owned by Swarovski.
The exhibition presents countless jewels that Swarovski has produced for the opera star in the 1950s and 1960s; colliers, precious diadems, necklaces, a laurel wreath of gold and a necklace with blood-red crystal elements were some kind of good-luck charm during Maria Callas´ performances in “Norma”, “La Sonnambula”, “La Traviata”, “Tosca” and “Anna Bolena.” One of the highlights of the exhibition is the tiara from the opera “Fedora”, designed by the famous Russian costume designer Nicola Benois.
On the occasion of this exhibition Swarovski and Galeries Lafayette invite 50 selected customers to an exclusive tour through the exhibition at the Konzerthaus located at the Gendarmenmarkt. On March 18, between 9:30 and 10:00 am, the participants will be tuned in on Maria Callas at the Galeries Lafayette with arias of the legendary opera diva, a French breakfast with coffee, croissants and champagne. Afterwards Swarovski will give an exclusive preview of the exhibition.
