Mark Henning - Jupiter Jive out in June
On the 23rd of June London boy Mark Henning will release his first album “Jupiter Jive” on Soma.
With prior releases on Trapez, Frankie Rec., Freude am Tanzen and Foundsound as well as upcoming remixes for the likes of Brett Johnson and Gaetano Parisio, Mark has risen up as one of the international underground’s true players, all while selling his soul as a corporate menial during the day. Mark now sticks two fingers up to the 9-5 and follows the advice of his solid fan base to make music his new day job and to finally release an album of his work. With DJ support pouring in from artists as varied as Akufen and Villalobos, it’s about time Mark put his talent on CD.
Jupiter Jive is a wonky excursion through the stretches of madness that make up Mark Henning’s deranged mind. Years of sleep exhaustion through balancing his life as a corporate sell-out and all-round rock star have taken their toll on his sanity with music being the only way to communicate the voices and imagery in his head. The resulting album is nothing short of FUBAR.
After a brief opening rant Almaha913 kicks things off with some skippy, swingtime minimal house full of warbling samples and crisp beats. TV transmissions intermittently interrupt to reliably inform that Bury Town are being beaten 2-0.
The album continues, developing Mark’s twisted minimal house and techno as it progresses. Tracks like Moody Bastard and I Lost My Brain At Wrinchout are undeniably dark yet maintain enough funk to freak the floors. Frau Daudle and Chav Land are both tripped-out wonky voyages through jelly landscapes while Fabrique Belgique will have you dancing to your worst nightmares in a track best described as Halloween-disco-house with a destructive breakdown while album-finisher All Star Geek is a devastating work, stabbing and crushing all in it’s path.
Mark Henning is definetely a name to watch over the coming months as his underground appeal continues to build with some of the world’s top names in electronic music.
