New York Fashion Week: Carolina Herrera
Carolina Herrera presented a stunning autumn/winter collection at Bryant Park on Monday morning.
Venezuelan-born Carolina Herrera is best known for her glamorous evening dresses. Her autumn/winter collection reflected exactly this kind of glamourous, elegant and sophisticated style with a range of gowns, slim skirts and tight pants with high waists.
Carolina Herrera used a mix of luxe fabrics like jacquard, lace, suede, silk and chiffon.
Just as rich as her fabrics was the color palette featuring gray, bronze, green, purple, marine and black.
Issuing from images of the Victorian era the silhouette concentrated on the waist and highlighted the feminine forms.
In this way Herrera created wrapped chiffon gowns with a slim waist and a wide bottom as well as loose blouses with long sleeves and corsage dresses.
Her shimmering collection was full of ornaments, flower prints and metallic twists.
In the beginning of her career Carolina’s distinctive style earned her a place in the International Best-Dressed List. As yesterday so today she surely knows how a tasteful woman looks and should dress like.
