Penkov - Fashion Week London

London Fashion Week was the place for the Berlin based fashion Label Penkov to present it’s spring/summer 09 collection on September 18th.

Not for the first time the Berlin based designer Bernadett Penkov presented her collection in London. With the support of Triumph she had this time chosen the rooms of Vauxhall Fashion Scout to present her spring/summer 2009 collection.

At the Vauxhall Fashion Scout, which is located next to the Natural History Museum which hosts the official site of London Fashion Week, last thursday fashionistas were able to take a look at the current state of Berlin fashion design.

Short and long dresses, shimmering in bright colors and letting you encounter the lightness of the warmer season, were the first designs to be shown. One of Bernadett Penkov’s trademarks is that she likes to mix various materials with very appealing results. We saw transparent cloth in her spring/summer 2009 collection as well, which is some key feature with many designers for next year’s season. A nice example was a creme colored blouse, locked under the chin, opening up in a triangle to the collar of the frilled skirt, revealing the wearers belly.

You could see pockets quite often in the collection, attached to a blue mini skirt for example, which will be by the way one of the trend colors of spring/summer 2009, or on self-colored blue dresses.

The collection has that elegant touch, and is at the same time “breezy”, light and casual. Always accentuating the body and at the same time being very casual, we very much liked an all black ensemble of blazer and wide legged pants that reminded us of the suits which already made Marlene Dietrich look so gorgeous.
