Perry Ellis - New York Fashion Week
It was time for relaxed fashion when the male models hit the catwalk for Perry Ellis on friday at New York Fashion Week S/S 09.
You couldn’t call the ideas spectacular which got presented on friday at 11am at “The Promenade”. Druing the catwalk you could see that men’s fashion designers try to match the expectations of the majority of their cutomers who like to look more relaxed than striking. Often displeasing the woman at their side and of course the female visitor to friday morning’s second catwalk.
Of course Perry Ellis the fashion which was presented by quite attractive male models matched all expectations. Perry Ellis as a brand is like the synonym for male leisure fashion. Until the death of it’s founder Perry Ellis in 1986 and till nowadays it stands for “the” american casual wear. The brand has a reputation and what we saw during the catwalk showed that they again were able to meet the requirements at New York Fashion Week.
In next year’s Perry Ellis collection the relaxed male finds cargo shorts, blazers and patchwork bermudas for the daring. Designer in chief John Crocco who says that Palm Springs of the 50’s was his inspiration for the s/s 09 collection mixes hoodies with jackets and shorts which vary in length and sometimes look like long surfer shorts.
As some reduced color palette is quite common in men’s wear, blue was the dominant color in Croccos collection.
The thrilling hightlights from our point of view was the khaki Bermuda shorts embroidered with red polka dots, just like the pale pink linen chinos, a snug silk/cotton sweater in burnt orange and a v-neck sweater in a color that looked like lavender.
In the end Perry Ellis with John Crocco were up for some pleasant surprises and the satisfied reporter hurried to the next catwalk of this Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York.
