Steve kicks some ass with iPod touch
Dr. Macenstein: “they really pissed in the mouth of some of their most avid fans here”.
Just today Steve Jobs presented some new (and must have) Apple products with the absolute super highlight - the iPod touch!
Apple revamped the iPod lineup from top to bottom. At the bottom of the lineup is a new (PRODUCT) Red iPod Shuffle with 1GB of storage for $79. The new nano sports a 2” 320x240 LCD and a doubled storage capacity of 4GB and 8GB. The nano now supports video for the first time, and users will be able to browse their libraries using CoverFlow and the nano is now made entirely of metal.
The iPod Classic will be available with capacities of up to 160GB which is amazing but wasn’t the most amazing and shocking (at the same time) announcement of the day. The super must have future item - shipping on 28th of september will be the “iPod touch” which will have the same touch screen interface like the iPhone and has WiFi on board - some thing the current iPhone owners were all hoping for but wasn’t included in the first generation iPhones.
Lucky enough all europeans didn’t get hurt by Steve’s latest announcement as the iPhone will be available not before november back here, cause Mr. Jobs announced the most shocking news to all the buyers who spent around 600 bucks on their Apple mobiles that Apple is going to lower the price from $599 to $399 for the 8GB model. The 4GB version will now be history!
This last news announcement of the day was what resulted in some outcry in the mac user community (including Dr. Macenstein), cause all the loyal fans had spent hours in front of the Apple stores to be the first to own the iPhone and now, only few weeks later, have to realize that their loyalty cost them $200.
As i personally wasn’t that much overwhelmed by the technical features of the iPhone as a mobile i’ll now surely will get me some iPod touch soon and choose wisely which mobile to get next summer when my 2 years contract with my mobile provider ends and a renewal might bring me the iPhone, the Nokia N95 or some other brand new phone for something around $1 which is the regular fee for some mobile phone back here in germany if you sign in to a new 2 year contract.
To all current iPhone owners - don’t be angry or sad - think about all the fun you had during the last weeks as the chosen ones and the steps you climbed on the social ladder by just owning some ubercoolisch iPhone!
