Stones, Madonna, Scorsese in Berlin

Thumb

Chances are good that we might see some music celebrities at this year’s Berlinale Film Festival.

As the opener to the festival which runs from february 7th till 17th Martin Scorsese’s new documentary “Shine a light” will see the big screens. Scorsese filmed the Rolling Stones during two of their shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York in late 2006 which included guest appearances by Jack White of the White Stripes, Christina Aguilera and Buddy Guy.

The movie includes rare archive scenes and newer backstage footage as well as various interviews. Worth mentioning regarding the movie is the fact, that the Stones just left EMI which has been their record company for ages to release the soundtrack on Universal. As many artists are looking fearful at EMI which currently looks like a sinking ship, the Rolling Stones’s descision might add another nail to the record company’s coffin. Looking forward to see Martin or some of the guys back here in february.

Another music artist and therefore of special interest to us, might show up in person back here. The material girl Madonna which is married to Guy Richie, the british film director, obviously got influenced by her husband cause her first short film (30 minutes) called “Filth and Wisdom” which is said to be based on the singer’s life will have it’s world premiere back here in Berlin. Though it’s not very far from London to Berlin chances are good that Madge will show up with Guy and one or more of her kids in tow.

The Berlinale which is getting better and bigger from year to year, especially since american actors have discovered Berlin and like to show up in person and even buy an apartment like Brangelina did, will bring us some interesting topics this year. Check out our upcoming coverage and hopefully some entertaining pics from the red carpet.

To shorten the wait check out the “Shine a Light” Trailer over at BERLINISTA.tv.
