STRYCHNIN BERLIN and MYSPACE - Scars

“You are female, you enjoy art and you’ve always wanted a painter to portray you in oil?”

This is the question that the artist Brian Horton, Berlin’s Strychnin Gallery and the international friend platform MySpace posed last September. Countless young women applied to be part of the SCARS project, and American artist Brian Horton, who is well-known for his work for DC Comics or Dark Horse Comics, chose ten finalists whose drawings will now be revealed to the public in his new Berlin solo-show opening on February 29th.

Strychnin’s celebrity judges – actor Manuel Cortez and the band Cobra Killer (Annika Line Trost and Gina V. D’Orio) – have chosen the winner of the SCARS Contest out of these ten portraits, and Brian Horton then painted her portrait in oil.

On February 29th, starting at 7 p.m., the winner will be announced and her oil painting revealed – Strychnin Gallery Berlin and Brian Horton would like to invite you to join them for the presentation of the winner of Germany’s SCARS Contest! Apart from the ten finalists and the jury, they will also have a special surprise guest.

Brian Horton: Scars Contest Germany - Opening night 29th of February, 7 p.m. - Runs until March 9th 2008 @ Strychnin Gallery Berlin - Boxhagener Straße 36, 10245 Berlin
