Designers Against Aids (DAA) and H&M teamed up for the good cause in the latest Fashion Against Aids campaign.

If you have to rely on public transport, you at times might have to ruin your heels on a walk across town. On my way to our office this afternoon i came along the H&M ad campaign featuring Tokio Hotel, on an old plastered wall close to Kurfürstendamm.

We just got informed that the Spirit of Fashion got cancelled.

From the official press release: “One reason was the current market situation. In spite of the prospected large numbers of visitors the wholesale market’s worry were potentially too small order volumes. Further more, during the last two years many underground brands had adepted themselves to the fact that there was no adequate trade fair in Summer any more and focussed their long term strategy on being present at festivals.”

The January 2010 event will take place as planned and we are happy that Spirit of Fashion as the underground face of Berlin Fashion Week is there to stay.

In November, the “Galerie für modefotografie” opened at Schröderstrasse 13 in Berlin. The fashion photography gallery will principally feature work created for international magazines and campaigns. Fashion photography defines styles and documents phenomena of our times.

Yesterday the Victoria’s Secret fashion show got aired in the USA. And it was yesterday when some most remarkable (at least for us) events took place.

During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin an exiting battle takes place: Jay-Z vs. Chester Bennington - Rocawear vs. Ve’cel at FASHION ROCK NIGHT.

On January 31st 2009 - for the second FASHION ROCK NIGHT, Jay-Z’s Rocawear fashion label and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington’s Ve’cel will compete for the fashion crown at West Coast Customs in Berlin.

Not only Beyonce wears Rocawear. Especially in the USA, the fashion label is a big success. With it’s range of sportswear, businesswear and clubwear it offers a big selection of hot urban street styles. Ve’cel by Linkin Park’s frontman Chester Bennington transforms the lifestyle of a rock star into some unique fashion range. During FASHION ROCK NIGHT it’ll be the first time ever that Europeans will be able to check out this label in the wild. Both fashion labels will be presented at the same time during an X-Catwalk at the factory building of West Coast Customs in Berlin, known from MTV’s “Pimp my Ride”.

Art + Commerce now exclusively representats Hedi Slimane, a singular talent whose vision crosses one boundary after another: fashion, photography, curating, publishing, industrial design.

Slimane is perhaps best known as the creative director of Dior Homme from 2000 to 2007, a role that earned him a CFDA Designer of the Year award in 2002. He has worked as a photographer for French Vogue, Vanity Fair, V, VMan, Purple, and Dazed & Confused. Slimane has organized over a dozen art exhibitions, including the seminal ‘Sweet Bird of Youth’ and the recent ‘Young American’ at Amsterdam’s FOAM Museum with filmmaker Gus Van Sant.

Among the nine books of photography Slimane has published is London Birth of a Cult, a document of London’s postmillenial rock scene viewed through the eyes of former Libertines frontman, Pete Doherty. Slimane has designed compelling architectural spaces from Paris to Shanghai and recently created an original furniture system for Comme des Garçons.
