Fuckparade 2008 - Saturday August 9 2pm

Next saturday - August 9 - Fuckparade 2008 will happen again in Berlin.

The parade which was started as an alternative parade to Loveparade meanwhile survived Berlin Loveparade and will see it’s next edition in a week.

The goal of the organizers is to be a platform for alternative lifestyles. For the freedom of speech, music and art - for the right of every human to choose freely where you live and how you live your live.

Currently investors are aiming at building large office buildings along the river Spree. This would mean that many youth projects would have to move or finally close down and that the general public doesn’t have any more free access to the banks of the river.

To stop those companies is this year’s main topic of Fuckparade 2008. Join in next saturday and show your protest and claim your right to live freely in a free city.

Kid Rock covers Warren Zevon’s Werewolves Of London

If you turn on the radion in Germany atm chances are very good that Kid Rock’s current summer hit “All summer long” is playing.

If you’re a (very) long time music lover you will find similarities (which is a very weak description) between his song and Warren Zevon’s hit single Werewolves Of London released in 1978. Actually you don’t need to call the “Kid” a bad boy cause there are numerous covers of the Zevon song with the memorable “Ah-hoo”.

Find out more about the history of the original recording over at Wikipedia and check out the Kid Rock version over at YouTube.

Team Plastique on the Siegessäule Cover

The greatest import from Australia - Team Plastique - made it to the cover of Siegessäule.

If you haven’t seen a Team Plastique show in Berlin you ain’t seen nothing yet.

The crazy aussies are the must see music act if you happen to be in Berlin. While we are waiting for their next record after their amazing debut T.I.T.S we are very happy to see them now on the cover of the biggest Berlin queer magazine Siegessäule.

Amy Winehouse is back!

Last night the 46664 concert took place in London’s Hyde Park to honour Nelson Mandela.

The famous Nobel Prize keeper and south african politician will celebrate his 90th birthday in three weeks. Last night numerous music acts celebrated the 20th anniversary of the “Free Nelson Mandela” concert.

Amy Winehouse was the one to do the most fabulous performance with her songs Rehab and Valerie. At the end of the concert she sang “Free Nelson Mandela” togehter with all the other artists of the night.

It was an amazing return of the greatest singer of the last years, of the style icon and the poor girl who struggles in her fight against drugs.

After seeing her last night it looks as if she’s back and we are hoping that she’ll stay for good!

No, it’s not Agyness Deyn but Miss Kittin!

Fashionweekdaily just announced the release of the new single by Agyness Deyn.

Though we love Chic Report a lot i must say that their admiration for Agyness Deyn (which we love too) lead them into some wrong direction.

The song used in the video ad for the new fragrance by Jean Paul Gaultier is by Miss Kittin. It’s called 3eme Sexe from her album I Com, which was released in 2004 on Astralwerks.

Check out the JPG ad in the video including Agyness as “the model” and Miss Kittin as “the musician and singer”.

DJ Spinna at Space Lab Yellow - Tokyo, Japan

Just a day ago DJ Spinna from Brooklyn/NYC happened to perform in Tokyo/Japan and a good friend of ours happened to be there as well…

Eelco who is currently travelling Japan sends his daily reports to friends and family. Read what he experienced last night:

“...i think annemarie and guus still remember carl craig in berlin in 2000 at no ufo. most of my old friends for sure remember laurent garnier in nighttown that same year. killer nights. well i just added another one. spinna 2008 in tokyo. he was a bomb of energy. unstoppable. a nuclear explosion. this guy really knows how to party. and he himself does it whilst playing the set. house detroit acid club jazz soul funk hip hop are the main genres that came by. all seeming to connect. and he loves percussion. those were the mixes that took about 10 minutes from the beginning till the end. the rest was a wirlpool of records comming by. he plays final scratch that is digital turntabling. no vinyl. although he had some vinyl but not much. so i think final scratch if you use it the right way can be perfect. again a dj that played all night long. he started at 11 and ended at 8....”

Guess Eelco encountered one of those rare nights… Check out DJ Spilla on MySpace

Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty - the perfect couple

Check out this hilarious YouTube video where Amy and Pete play with some small mice.

Kraftwerk - whatever happened to Florian Schneider

As Kraftwerk are doing the first gigs of their current tour of the US, one member is missing: Florian Schneider!

At this time of day everything is speculation, like the idea that Mr. Schneider might have skipped the tour due to the fact that former Kraftwerk member Klaus Dinger died at the age of 61 on March 20th 2008, which got him thinking about his future in the most influential electronic music band of all times.

Schneider who just turned 61 himself on the 7th of April is one of the two founding members of Kraftwerk. Back in 1968 he met Ralf Hütter and in 1970 they founded the band which, in it’s genre, can be easily compared with the influence and success of the Beatles.

As the history of the band shows, the wait for an official statement can last from short to eternal and so at the moment anything is left to the reader’s imagination.

If the absence of Florian Schneider-Esleben at last night’s Minneapolis concert is just an exception will soon be answered on tonight’s concert at the Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee/WI.

Will the mystery “30 something” man you can see on the right hand side of the picture show up again instead of Florian Schneider? Is it all just a hoax? The answer lies just a few hours ahead.
