Kuniyuki Remixed on Mule Musiq

The Japanese sound designer and producer Kuniyuki Takahashi aka KUNIYUKI will release his remix album Kuniyuki Remixed on October 24, 2008.

Following on from his brilliant second album “All These Things”, Kuniyuki returns with his remixed album. For the album he choose his favorite producers and has also done one of his own remixes which shows a more dancefloor side to him.

Kuniyuki’s music is a manifestation of culturally diverse and universal sounds not limited to any particular genre of music, but he is certainly a master of the deep house sound. He continues to expand his musical horizons with each new release and is held in high regard by many of his internationally recognised peers. He also records under the alias’ Forth, Kuni, Koss and Saikoss, and also runs his own record label BSC (Bacteria Sound Commune).

After releases under his own name on Natural Resource and Mule, Kuniyuki released his debut album ‘We Are Together’ in 2006. Since then he’s concentrated on expanding the depth of lively and raw vibrations in his music, going on a live world tour including his participation at Joe Claussell’s Sacred Rhythm Gathering in NYC, where he contributed a remarkable performance that’s still talked about. Recently a few of Kuniyuki’s new works were performed live by an exclusive ‘Kuniyuki band’ at Francois K’s Deepspace night at Yellow in Tokyo.

The opening track is “A Mountain of One” remix - who are one of his favorite balearic, indie rock artists at the moment. Their remix has a blissed-out blues rock sound with hypnotic spoken words, this track reminds Kuniyuki of the sound of doors. The second track comes from Detroit house legend Theo Parrish who delivers a 14min mid tempo house remix. It’s the classic theo parrish sound and a definite hightlight of this remix album. Check also dub version on 12inch(mule musiq 28).

The third track is one of the most his favorite artists and friends Henrik Schwarz. He is always good to bring out the best points of the original song. The result of his remix is a perfect combination of Kuniyuki’s organic sound and Henrik Schwarz’s electric treatment. Check also their collaboration single(mule musiq 26). The fourth track is a Kuniyuki’s self remix of the collaboration track by Kuniyuki & Henrik Schwarz. The original version is an uplifting jazzy song, but this remix version sounds like jazzy detroit techno.

Fifth track is by mule’s new artist Tony Lionni, who has also released on Versatile and Wave. The original song has an afro jazz sound also with Kuniyuki’s flute melodies and Tony has put together an impressive electric house version.
Sixth track is an exclusive new song for this album, where the mixture of the sound of african xylophone and minimal beats is very unique.

The seventh track comes from Cobblestone Jazz, the remix as you might expect, combined minimal beats with original jazzy sound, and is simply great all round. For the eighth track superb French duo Chateau Flight offer us an excellent techno remix. Finally for the last track is another Kuniyuki self remix of title song of his second album, re-rubbing it into an old school house remix with full vocal.
